Welcome to Collins Elementary Library Media Center. The students utilize this facility and its materials
for their educational requirements. We hope that
this will serve as a guide for you, as well as your child to be
familiar with our facility, procedures and staff.

Library Instruction
The librarian meets with each class on a regular basis to teach library skills and literature enrichment.

Students
are welcome to use the library resources between 7:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday during the school year.

The
Collection
The library house
books and audio-visual materials including audio and video cassettes,
maps, globes, computer software, laser disks, and CD Rom programs. Collins also receives The Daily Sentinel
newspaper.

Circulation
Our policy allows each student to check out books only. Books are circulated for two weeks and may be
renewed by the student on or before the date due.
Reference materials are circulated only if
they are needed for special reports or projects. The student is
allowed to borrow one source per evening. The book must be
returned to the library by 8:00 a.m. the following morning. Our
complete reference collection must be available for classes to utilize
during the school day.
Overdue Materials
Overdue fines are charged which are five (5) cents per
day and students are required to pay for lost or damaged materials. The parent will be refunded if the lost book
is returned in good condition.
